Untitled [poem]
Many generations ago
when we were already old
our philosophy reached a sublime peak
We conjectured a life
of weightless leisure
of easy companionship
of unbounded creativity
of abundant and effortless foods
of indefinite and refined contemplation
We applied our minds
our energies
our technologies
and it came to pass
Now we live in a state
of sustained bliss
From time to time
as the epochs tumble by
- and as we had foreseen -
calamities befall us
From time to time
we are starved or slain
Our tears
are as valuable
as the heavy metals made
by dying stars
and
will last as long
This truth
propels our play
our songs
our love
our dreams
We dream
that you will one day join us
A great welcome awaits
