On Trying to be a Good Ally
I
contributed recently to a debate on ‘the patriarchy’ convened by the Great Transition Initiative.
It is my
conviction that further progress in feminism (and/or tackling the patriarchy) (and, indeed, in making more general progress towards a more sustainable society) must involve male voices speaking to men.
Men need to speak to other men to challenge the kind of male behaviour
that is associated with everything from everyday sexism, to pornography and
sexual violence, to systemic oppression and exploitation.
